Our Purpose

Rev. Dr. Myeong Shin Nam
Pastor
Pastor Nam has devoted herself to children and youth education in the local church for a long time as a Christian education specialist. She now dreams that the First United Methodist Church in San Leandro will be a happy church where children and youth make good memories, where the elderly are respected and cared for, and where young people feel rewarded and satisfied by serving the church and community. She hopes to share this happiness with residents and neighbors.
Pastor Nam, who is small but passionate about her work and full of pleasant laughter, wants to achieve her dream of making a happy church with you.
Virginia Thompson
Music Director
Virginia grew up in Louisiana learning piano, Saxophone, Oboe and English Horn. She received a music scholarship to Mississippi Valley State College (now University).
She started her directing career at the BeeBe Memorial Cathedral in Oakland, CA, as a choir member when the then director quit she took over as Minister of Music. She's been directing for over 35 years. Along the way, she awarded was "Musician of the Year" by the By Faith magazine of the UMC.
Nancy Skinner
Facility Manager
Nancy is the open secret of cleanness and neat of our church building. She has taken the position out of her devotion to the Lord and love for our church.
She practices her life as a Christian through kindness toward people and the protection of the environment and nature. In addition, Nancy is a wonderful dancer and performs liturgical dance for special occasions. When you meet Nancy, you meet a woman of gentleness and warm heart when you come to our church.
Lia Paras
Admin Assistant
Lia is a person whose life has taken many twist and turns, and now it has taken her to our church in the Admin Assistant position.
She is a person of many anxieties, but she truly tries her best when it comes to people. She enjoys food and music and talking about exploring various medias like music, movies, and books in terms of artistic direction and vision.
